When masturbating or shagging the testes can end up inside the body cavity, which is nice but prevents them from stimulation through movement. Sometimes during intercourse, when they are in that position, they can get momentarily squashed causing some discomfort. The cock ring, which encompasses the base of the shaft and the scrotum complete with testes, prevents the testes from going into the body cavity, therefore, they are stimulated as well by the movement of the penetration or masturbation action, which in my case enhances the sensation.
The ring also impedes the flow of erectile fluids from dissipating which means more effective erections but this requires a tighter ring and care must be taken when inserting the testes and penis, the scrotum on its own is very easy. I usually do my testes first then the penis (which I have put a little lube on as the penis can be much easier to coax through).
There are rings which encompass the scrotum only and this allows the testes to slap about with either masturbation or penetration thus stimulating them as well and if it is penetration the recipient also feels (and hears) the slapping which can be very nice. Then there is the cock ring which goes on the base of the shaft and prevents the loss of erectile fluids enabling the wearer to maintain a firm erection for longer or in the case of erectile dysfunction or old age it enables an erection to be maintained for the purpose of stimulation by either masturbation or penetration.
There are many types of cock rings some are hard steels of different sizes and metals and are usually just for encasing the complete cock and balls at the base of the shaft but be-warned, get the right size as they don't stretch they also come in a cage configuration which is 2 or 3 way: around the base, around the scrotum and around the shaft. This is a little more difficult to get on but a lot of fun and if in metal looks impressive (if you are a show off).
All of these are also available in leather and silicone, the silicone ones are the easiest to get on and off as they stretch but can pinch the skin a little and if you don't shave or wax tends to pull the hair. They also come with lots of different alternatives which each individual must try for themselves they are for punishment, for show, for chastity, bondage, posing or just plain fun and can separate the balls, impede the urethra function etc.
At the end of the day it is your choice but please be very careful and if you start turning blue it's too tight and it's time to take it off, but getting to that stage can be fun.
My weapon of choice is the metal ring encompassing the lot but I also like using a tight silicone cage as it enables me to do today what I did when I was younger.
